  Etymology of specific epithet
The species name is from the Latin, solus, meaning alone, and refers to its being the only species of Entomacrodus occurring in the Red Sea. The name is treated as a noun in apposition. We propose the common name, Lonely blenny, in reference to its geographic isolation from other members of the genus (Ref. 84157).
